Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a new federal initiative that helps eligible Canadians access essential dental services with reduced or no cost. Tri-City Dental Centre is proud to support CDCP patients with direct billing and friendly guidance every step of the way.
Am I Eligible?
You may qualify for the CDCP if you:
- Do not have private dental insurance
- Have a family net income under $90,000
- Are a Canadian tax resident
- Filed your taxes for the previous year
If you already receive dental benefits from a provincial or federal program, you may still be eligible.
When Can I Apply?
Applications are open in phases:
- Seniors (65+): Eligible since Dec 2023
- Children under 18 and adults with a Disability Tax Credit: Eligible in early 2024
- All other eligible adults (18–64): Eligible starting May 2025
Coverage begins approximately 3 months after approval.
How Do I Apply?
Apply online at canada.ca/dental or call 1-833-537-4342.
You will receive a welcome package with your start date and a CDCP card.
What’s Covered?
The CDCP covers essential services such as:
- Exams, cleanings, and x-rays
- Fillings, extractions, and root canals
- Gum disease treatment
- Dentures and oral surgery
Note: Some services like crowns, partial dentures, and sedation require pre-authorization starting November 1, 2024.
How Much Will I Pay?
Your contribution depends on your income:

| Under $70,000 | 100% | $0 |
| $70,000–$79,999 | 60% | 40% |
| $80,000–$89,999 | 40% | 60% |
Some clinics may charge more than the CDCP fee guide, so we recommend confirming any costs ahead of time.
